BAK KUT TEH seller Chan Kok Lung, 33, who was gunned down in a vicious shootout with police in Seri Kembangan two days ago, may have had a premonition that his life was to end soon.
A source close to the suspected robber’s family told Malay Mail that he had hinted to his wife he may not be around for long.

The source said Chan had reminded his wife that if he was “gone”, she should look for his friend who incidentally, was the other suspected robber, Wong Keong Hong, 41, whom police shot dead in Genting Highlands just minutes later in a separate shootout on Monday.

Puteri Umno has urged the Government not to give in to “extreme demands” by Indonesia over the domestic maid issue. Its chief Datuk Rosnah Abdul Rashid Shirlin said giving in to demands such as a day off for Indonesian maids and allowing the maids to keep their own passport would pose a great risk to employers.

“The employer-maid contract has already included a provision for a day off. It is up to the discretion of employers to decide on their maids’day off. It is not a new agreement.

A Durex Sexual Wellbeing Survey has shown that as much as 75% of Malaysian adults credit the World Wide Web for teaching them the bedroom “how-tos”. School sex education, meanwhile, lagged behind other sources of information at 36%. This was behind magazines (73%), books (65%), friends and peers (56%) and partners (43%).

There were a total of 1,026 respondents, which made up an equal number of men and women aged 18 years and above. A total of 75% of men and 71% of women relied on the Internet for information on sex. Despite the figures, less than half of Malaysians – 45% of men and 39% of women think there is enough advice and information available for them.

BHUVANESWARI: Second time facing prostitution charge
SULTRY South Indian actress Bhuvaneswari, 33, who has been accused of prostitution, is believed to have named certain Malaysian and Singaporean businessmen as her main clients.

Malay Mail understands that some of these businessmen are involved with the film industry as financiers of Tamil and Telugu movies and television serials.

An editor of a popular showbiz magazine in Chennai, Kay Ravi, told Malay Mail that the names of the Malaysians and Singaporeans cropped up during investigations by the media into the high-profile scandal.

Malaysia is the third most desirable country to live in the Asean region behind Singapore and Brunei. Overall, it was ranked 66th globally out of 182 countries, according to UN data released this week.

Data collected in 2007 before the global economic crisis ranked Singapore as the 23rd and Brunei the 30th most desirable country to live in.

“He really did look like his life was ebbing,” she told Malay Mail yesterday. “But, I thought he was only having a fever, like what the parents told me.”

Hornets kill two children

n_pg27hornetTwo children were killed and three others hospitalised after they were attacked by a swarm of hornets at Sungai Moyan in Batu Kawa near here.

The dead were identified as Chen Sze Ying, six, and her three-year-old brother, Chun Jie.

They died several hours after they were rushed to the Sarawak General Hospital here at about 5:40pm.

Their mother Tan Wan Chew,29, elder sister Sze Ting, eight, and their uncle Tan Lan Chia, 11, survived the killer bees’ attack.

Their conditions are said to be stable.

Wan Chew, her three children and her younger brother were going for a late afternoon stroll on a hill near to their home when they were suddenly stung by a swarm of hornets.

She quickly grabbed crying Sze Ying and ran for safety with her other children and brother, according to a relative.

After reaching home, they sought help from neighbours who rushed them to the hospital.

It was not known if the hornets, whose nest was found behind the rocks on the hill, had been disturbed.

The incident shocked the peaceful neighbourhood.

Bandar Kuching MP Chong Chieng Jen, who visited Chen’s family and the incident scene on Sunday, has informed the Fire and Rescue Department of the locality of the hornets’ nest.-nst
